When I was a little girl I would never have made a comment to my Mother like “I’m bored!” She would have handed me a laundry basket full of wet clothes to go hang up on the clothes line or told me to go clean my room. There was way too much work to do for her to spend time entertaining me. The only hope I had to avoid a few jobs was to keep myself “under the radar” so to speak and out of the way.

What has happened? There are still a lot of clothes to fold and rooms to clean. Let me teach you an old fashioned word–“CHORES”. Those are portions of the workload for the family distributed to individuals in the family as their responsibility as part of the membership. They are not subject to a certain amount of allowance nor any sort of reward. They are merely your responsibility as your portion of the workload.Think of what a wonderful “Work Ethic” that would inspire in the adult you hope your child will become. It is never too early nor too late to start your child on the road to a good work ethic and sense of responsibility. Parents it will require some painful effort on your part at first because it is easier to do it yourself than to teach your child how to do it. Do not relent. Above all be consistent. The rewards will be worth the effort. Remember you are trying to build character not just do the dishes.Love you, GrammyP.S. If you would like to ask me a question and get my advice on an issue or how I would handle a situation. Feel free to ask me question and I will get back to you shortly. I look forward to helping in any way I can.
