Infant reflux has a variety of symptoms including the hallmark symptom of spitting up and/or vomiting. A child may suffer from only a few symptoms or in worse cases a gamut of symptoms. Below you will find a list of the more common and a few lesser common symptoms of reflux:
- Frequent spitting up and/or vomiting
- Refusing to or difficulty with eating (choking, gagging)
- Frequent coughing
- Constant or sudden crying
- Arching the back and appearing in pain
- Poor weight gain
- Bad breath
- Poor sleep habits, frequent waking, uncomfortable to lay flat
- Excessive drooling
- Runny nose, sinus infection
In some instances a child may not exhibit any of the above symptoms and reflux can be mistaken for other childhood illnesses such as colic.
